Broadmead is a planned
residential community built on nearly 300 hectares of prime west
coast land in Victoria, British Columbia, within the District of Saanich.
Over 1,800 homes have been built into a
beautiful natural setting. Broadmead Farms Limited
directed this development starting in 1965, and followed a creative concept
and a set of design principles which respected the area's natural topography,
mature trees and rock outcrops. More than twenty percent of the
community is public green space.
Building design and placement were subject to
approval, and restrictive covenants were attached to all land titles. Please visit the
Covenants section for more information on the restrictive
covenants and their application.
This unique and desirable community now features 1,200 single family homes, 600
strata townhomes and condominiums, 40 co-op residences, one elementary school, a church, a
six-building office park, a 225-bed multilevel care facility for veterans
and seniors and a 47-store shopping centre.
Rithet's Bog
is a 42-hectare wetland located centrally in Broadmead. The
community also has 20 hectares of linear parks and 6.5 kilometers of
walking trails. Parks range from natural areas to those with tennis
courts and playgrounds.

The brown patch in the lower centre

On the social front, there are many
established clubs and social organizations that meet regularly in
community venues. Annually, in May, there is an
Artists' Studio Tour
during which
local artists open their homes to the public to show off their art in a
variety of media.
