Earthquakes: Drop, Cover and Hold

The Provincial Emergency Program advises that the long-established "Drop, Cover, and Hold" strategy to reduce injury and death during earthquakes is the most appropriate response in British Columbia. Drop under some heavy furniture or into an alcove, cover your head and torso to prevent being hit by falling objects and hold on so that you remain covered. More information on this strategy may be viewed here.

The most important thing for personal safety in an earthquake is to BE PREPARED. The Provincial Emergency Program advice on preparedness may be viewed here.
